What we can achieve is limited by our own mind. We so often think: I couldn’t do that, or I am not smart, young, etc, for that. Not only does our negative talk inside our heads keep us from achieving our dreams, but is also can infect our prayers.
I even fall for the words in my head sometimes. I will hear things like, I am not smart enough, I will fail, I will quit, I will lose interest, I am not qualified for that. And many, many, many more thoughts. This is the enemy, who roams the earth trying to steal and destroy. He steals our happiness, destroys our future by defeating us in the beginning. God has more in store for you than you could ask, or even imagine. He has a plan for you, plans for hope and future plans to prosper you not harm you.
So often we think too small and we miss out. The way our prayers can be affected by our mindset is… When you think you are a burden, you think you are to God also. You think God has better people to help than my little problems. THAT’S A LIE! Jesus himself went to go save the 1 sheep when he had the other 99. A sheep! how much more is your worth? The answer, FAR MORE.
The best story from the bible I ever heard, that truly showed the Lords compassion to me was: When the woman/mother was walking with her dead sons body after the funeral. She was so hurt, she cried and wept so hard on the way out of the city to bury her child. Jesus and his followers were on the way in the city, Jesus had so much love and compassion for the poor woman who lost her child. He brought him back to life!!!
Still wonder if God cares, God is known in the bible, like LOVE. GOD IS LOVE. What is love? I want you to really think, and listen to the verse I am about to put on… look at what Gods love for you is…
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Gods love is perfect! Not the love you received from your boyfriends, husbands, wives, parents, but Gods love. Gods love is so much better, so compassionate and full that you could never even imagine it, or fathom how great it is. So why then do we limit our minds and think, “oh, I am not important enough”. Or even when we are brave enough to limit God saying, “The Lord has too much to handle, he doesn’t need me too”. That is saying that you do not think God can handle it… You of little faith.
The God of Jacob, Abraham, and Mary, is a God who cannot be limited by our own thinking. He is called “Abba”, Father, for a reason. He loves us as his own children, so much he sacrificed his son. Don’t think that hurt God, think again, he asked Jesus if he was sure he wanted to go through with it. This was truly a sacrifice and a show of his compassion and love for us. That he would watch his son beaten, and killed brutally, so we could all be his children and see him in heaven. Even though we were already sinners, he loved us.
For Jesus came into the world to save the world, not condemn it.
You want the smallest most unimportant story that God helped me with, to prove my point. PS: this is very personal and I hate to give too much information, but God deserves the Glory. I have Irritable bowel Syndrome (IBS), so my (we will say stuff), stuff gets so big and hard, it causes physical harm. Well, I was going to the restroom, when it hurt so bad I did not know how to handle it, I did not literally think I would make it. It was almost as painful as child labor. So I prayed, GOD, HELP ME! PLEASE. Immediately there was a complete relief, and it was over.
God cares about the little things, I wasn’t dying, and yet, the Lord heard my cry and came quickly.
Now that I have shown you that he cares enough to help you, you need to understand he is also able. He wants the best for you, not for you to settle and deal with it. Do not get me wrong, the Lord does let satan (will never capitalize satan) tempt us, shake our faith, drag us in the mud at times. But only for our greater good, if you are walking with Christ. John the Baptist was beheaded, imprisoned. If our hearts match Gods, we would be praying big prayers. “Lord may Your will be done, for YOUR glory”. Sometimes things happen, just to help us grow with faith when we see God come through… After trusting in him.
Sometimes it helps us grow, and believe it or not, God is watching out for everyone, not just you! So he has to put the pieces of your life puzzle together just right, but we keep moving the pieces, instead of letting God handle it.
An example of other people incorporated with our prayers. My grandma was dying of cancer, my mom prayed “have her live”. Which is understandable for someone you love. When she asked me what I prayed I said: “I prayed that she would not die until she has a promised spot in heaven and that the Lords will be done”. My mother was furious and yelled at me. (not every “Christian” wants Gods will) She won that bout with cancer and Grandma lived another 11 years then sadly passed away, but I know in my heart I will see her later. She was saved before death, thank God.
So often we pray little, and we lower our standards in prayer, instead of boldly praying with your close friend, Jesus. YOUR NOT A BURDEN TO GOD! now stop believing it! Your sins can be forgiven, quit beating yourself up because you think you deserve it and take the blessing and gift of forgiveness. Just ask God for help in that area, turn from your sin, and ask for forgiveness. YOU ARE NOT UNFORGIVABLE, stop hiding from God. Love covers all iniquities. Stop praying, “oh God if you just..”, “God if I, then will you?”…. Those are not bold prayers.
1.) Talk to God and build a relationship with him, not just to get things
2) Ask for forgiveness for any sins, forgive others before coming to the cross
3) God is your best friend, ask boldly.
4)Ask, seek, knock… Keep Asking, Keep seeking, Keep Knocking!!! Show your faith that he will come through.
5)Line your wants and needs to Gods, if you are not sure to pray his will over the situation.
Let me tell you a story that will help with the bold prayer.
There was a man who was asked to come hang out with the king of the Land. They went golfing as he spoke to him, the king asked the man a question. “I want to give you a gift from my people to you, it can be ANYTHING, what do you want?” The man thought for awhile, and decided since he has a golf collection he wanted another nice golf club. The king said, it will be done.
The man went home and every day checked the mail, eagerly waiting for his gift. Many days passed, and he kept waiting. Finally he found a letter in the mail, he seemed disheartened as it was not the golf club he specifically asked for. Then, he opened the letter up and found that it was not a letter, it was a deed to a Huge golf club. He was now an owner of a large piece of land with a golf club on it.
The point to this story is, a king thinks bigger than a small golf club. A king (God) would want to give you the whole lot, instead of just another small tool. For my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts saith the Lord.
While we are praying, Lord may I have enough food for today, God is planning your new job, waiting for faith and for you to ask… Before giving it too you. There are so many blessings he is waiting to pour out on us if we just asked. You receive not, because you ask not.
Analogy: You love your kids, you take care of them, play with them and feed them. When you are in the store and they ask “may I get, or have…….”, as a parent who wants to give their child the world, you still usually don’t get that toy, for money reasons or its just impractical, or you do not want to spoil them. Regardless, all they hear is “no”. Yet we do have our reasons. Sometimes, we do give them what they want, when it is within means and would make them happy. God calls us his children, for a reason. God wants to give us the whole world, never wants us to feel pain etc. But sometimes its for our good, even if we do not see it at the time.
Do not let your mind get in the way, you are important to God. For you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are smart, you can do anything with God! You can even overcome serious pain and suffering, leaning on God. Find Joy in times of pain, and have peace when you should be hurt, angry or scared. The Lord is faithful, he is just.
Life may have kicked you in the teeth, and you wonder why such a “good God”, would let that happen. The answer is simple, God gave us freedom of choice. Some choose to do wrong. Why did my grandmother die? because God wanted to free her from her suffering. Maybe because he could not wait to see her. Remember, it is not just your wants God has to look out for. His ways are higher than our ways, you could never fathom his plans for you. (Isaiah 55:8-9, Jeremiah 29:11) We were made for more, God wants the best for you.
